Two Fold Software
The ability to automatically control stocks of consumables while processing samples is now available with Two Fold Software's Consumable Stock Control software module for its Version 1.1 release of Qualoupe LIMS software. The new module allows all consumables used within a laboratory to be defined and a record created for each associated consumable. The record contains all the consumable's details such as name, code, supplier, cost, shelf life, etc. The interface works hand in hand with the software, allowing users to associate any consumables that they are using when performing a specific test method and automatically record how much is consumed when using that method. As a result when a sample is processed using a specific test method, the LIMS can automatically deduct from stock the amount of each consumable used.

Beckman Coulter
This enhanced version of Kaluza software offers a quick and simple interface with radial menus and the ability to see animated data in multiple dimensions. Millions of cells can be analyzed in an instant through the simultaneous use of hundreds of graphic processors, delivering fast processing speed. With a minimum number of clicks, users can generate a compensation matrix from a set of controls, choose from a variety of algorithms to generate the matrix and export the compensated data as a CSV file. Batch analysis capability enables processing of multiple files automatically with minimal input.
Kaluza 1.2 also uses gates on the Radar Plot so users can classify events and gate in n-dimensions. To understand the gating strategy, users can browse through its Gate Table, which displays the entire gating hierarchy using Excel-like functions right inside Kaluza reports. This three-channel data logger is designed to simultaneously measure and record CO2 concentration, temperature and humidity. Making atmospheric pressure settings for the measurement location ensures more stable and accurate CO2 measurements. Uniqsis and WaveCraft entered into a collaborative agreement to develop and market a new range of microwave-based flow chemistry systems to improve efficiency when scaling up compound synthesis during drug development. By integrating liquid handling technology from Uniqsis with microwave applicator technology and reactors from WaveCraft, the two companies will deliver flow chemistry systems that not only speed up synthetic processes and facilitate scale up, but also offer a safe solution that uses less energy than conventional approaches.
WaveCraft's technology uses a novel applicator and a microwave generator based on mobile phone technology to apply microwave energy and accelerate chemical reactions. INTEGRA
According to INTEGRA, its new VIAFILL delivers high performance bulk reagent dispensing, multichannel pipetting and microplate washing capabilities all from a single multipurpose instrument. A choice of different tubing sets allows users to quickly change between these three operation modes. It is considered idea for a range of different applications including reagent or media dispensing, cell seeding, plate washing or serial dilutions.
Operating as a bulk reagent dispenser, the VIAFILL uses a choice of dispensing tube sets for reagent addition in volumes ranging from 0.5µl to 10ml into 6-, 12-, 24-, 48-, 96-, 384- and 1536-well plates. A 16-channel tubing set is available for the filling of 384- and 1536-well plates. All Dispensing Tubing Sets are sold pre-sterilized and are autoclavable enabling them to be re-used for further experiments. The addition of a Plate Stacker module allows unattended operation of the VIAFILL.
With GripTip Kits the VIAFILL can be used as an automated multichannel pipettor. In this operating mode, reagents are aspirated from a reagent reservoir directly into the pipette tips instead of being pumped through the entire tubing set. This enables the VIAFILL to perform more complex applications like serial. GripTip Kits also allow users to quickly fill a few plates without the need to wash and sterilize the entire Dispensing Tubing Sets.
The VIAFILL can be also converted into a plate washer and aspirator by attaching the Wash Module. This allows users to aspirate supernatants from well plates into an external container for collection or disposal, and at the same time enables users to rinse the plates with a wash solution. To ensure the best possible aspiration within each well, the movement of the aspiration tube can be set to either a linear or circular path. Eight or 16-channel Wash Tubing Sets are available to accommodate 96 or 384 well plates. During a prolonged use of the Wash Module, a timed rinse can be programmed to clean and prevent clogging of the wash tubing set. The aspiration heights and patterns can be customized with the touch screen user interface.

SeraCare Life Sciences now offers a performance panel for parvovirus B19, HIV, HBV, HAV and CMV markers. The Parvovirus B19 Mixed Titer Performance Panel (PVP201) is, according to SeraCare, the world's first commercially available performance panel for Parvovirus B19 markers with naturally occurring plasma samples. Designed to help users evaluate parvovirus assays, the panel contains 21 samples characterized for multiple IgM and IgG assays as well as B19 DNA, a marker used to screen plasma collected for fractionation.
The HIV Genotype Performance Panel (PRD201) provides researchers with a diverse set of samples, both geographically and in terms of genotypes: eight of the nine panel members are HIV positive, representing eight different HIV-1 genotypes from seven countries. Made from cultured virus diluted in defibrinated plasma, this panel is designed to help users develop, evaluate and troubleshoot a variety of HIV assays, including those for HIV RNA and the newest screening tests for combined HIV antigen and antibody.
The Worldwide HBV DNA Performance Panel (WWHD301) adds a worldwide Hepatitis B panel to SeraCare's panel portfolio. The 20-member panel includes samples from 10 countries with HBV genotypes ranging from A through H. SeraCare delivers the broadest range of data available for a panel of this kind, with information on genotype, drug resistance mutations and test results for, HBV DNA, HBsAg and HBeAg.
The Anti-Hepatitis A Virus Mixed Titer Performance Panel (PTH202) offers users a 21-member panel that includes members positive for IgG and IgM, contains specimens collected from 2000 to 2010, and represents a diverse range of HAV reactivities (from low to medium to high). Data are available for both new and established test methods.
The Anti-CMV (Cytomegalovirus) Mixed Titer Performance Panel (PTC203), available exclusively from SeraCare, provides 21 naturally occurring panel members with data from twelve commercially available anti-CMV assays. It also features a detailed graphical representation of test member results.

This user-friendly Stability Trials software module is now available as part of the Version 1.1 release of Qualoupe LIMS software. The new Stability Trials software is tailored for organizations that run stability trials over any given period of time and different storage conditions. Users can create protocols for parameters such as sampling regimes, detailing storage conditions, sampling frequency and time units. When running a trial, users can select the protocol that would then create the scheduled samples for the trial. The material being trialled would associate the methods to be performed on the samples. Trials can be associated with studies and projects. The Stability Trials software also enables the LIMS to provide prompts for sample pull schedules and the storage location.
The Stability Trial software is one of a trio of new modules now available as part of Qualoupe's new Version 1.1 LIMS software release. The other modules provide enhanced solutions for managing consumable stock control and providing a Multi-Group capability for complete data management flexibility for organizations and companies that not only have multiple sites but also include multiple laboratories within each site.

According to Tecan, its new Buffer Creation Wizard fully automates buffer preparation for bioprocessing on Freedom EVO liquid handling systems. It allows preparation of buffer sets in plates or tubes for subsequent screening experiments, such as high-throughput process development (HTPD). Fast, reliable buffer preparation can be performed using either manual buffer layouts or Design of Experiment (DoE) generated formats (*.txt), including Modde (Umetrics) and Assist (GE Healthcare). The required volumes of each solution are calculated and a ready-to-run script generated with just a few clicks of the mouse.

TissuemorphDP image analysis software is specifically designed for detection and/or classification of cell nuclei, cytoplasm or membrane. Preset protocols enable users to load samples and run complex analyses with the touch of just a few keys. Designed by Visiopharm, TissuemorphDP, allows users to control detection of cell structures through simple manual control of sensitivity (positive/negative nuclei and membrane) and/or size (positive/negative nuclei and cytoplasm). The new range of Thermo Scientific SOLA solid phase extraction (SPE) cartridges and plates combines polyethylene frit materials and stationary phase components into one, uniform entity. As a result, according to Thermo, these cartridges and plates deliver superior reproducibility, recovery and sensitivity and reduce the levels of contaminants and extractables within the sample eluate.

The Infinite M1000 PRO is Tecan's latest generation high-end multimode microplate reader. It offers a module designed specifically for AlphaScreen and AlphaLISA technologies. Based on Tecan's Quad4 Monochromators, it allows fine tuneable and precise bandwidth adjustment in fluorescence, as well as offering Tecan's absorbance, fluorescence and luminescence scanning capabilities. This open platform system enables the automation of many manual steps required for unscrewing (decapping) the lids of clinical sample vials, extracting the sample material and pipetting it into testing vials and then recapping the clinical sample vial. The QIAensemble Decapper is considered by Qiagen to be the first instrument of its kind to be designed to support downstream molecular testing. An ergonomics evaluation of the sample preparation processing of 88 samples showed QIAensemble Decapper reduced hands-on time by 70% compared to the time required for manual processing by a laboratory worker while eliminating more than 1,200 movements.
QIAensemble Decapper has a capacity to process up to approximately 800 samples per shift (excluding set-up time and post-processing requirements).
