Joanne Kamens, PhD, received her PhD in genetics from Harvard Medical School and has a diverse career spanning academia, pharma, biotech and nonprofit. Currently, she is Director of Alumni Programming at PharmStars, a digital health startup accelerator. Previously, Kamens was the Executive Director/CEO of the international biotech nonprofit, Addgene, for a decade, achieving single-digit employee turnover. She consults, leveraging her unique scientific background to help teams and organizations develop supportive culture and processes, while continuing decades of coaching scientists on career satisfaction. She serves on multiple boards, including OpenBiome, the National Association for Women in Science and Cohort Sistas. A recognized leader in mentoring, Kamens has been nominated for the Presidential Medal of Honor in STEM Mentoring.
