SLAS has negotiated special rates and benefits for conference attendees at hotels in Vienna.  

By staying in the SLAS block of guest rooms, SLAS can contract premier facilities such as VIECON.  Additionally, you are helping the Society meet its contractual obligations to the hotels, avoid penalties, and help underwrite the cost of convention center rental, thereby keeping conference registration fees as affordable as possible. Arriving Via Public Transit 

The VIECON – Vienna Congress & Convention Center is linked with all parts of the city by train lines. The extensive commuter train and underground network (Wiener Linien) means VIECON can be reached within minutes from all parts of the city.

• U2: Krieau

Parking 
For anyone traveling to the venue by car, there are more than 4,000 parking spaces in the immediate vicinity.

The airport bus takes you to VIECON – Vienna Congress & Convention Center (Foyer D) in 30 minutes. 

The Vienna International Airport is only 20 minutes away by taxi.

Please reference both your home country’s travel guidelines as well as the official entry guidelines from the country of Austria before making your travel arrangements.  

As of October 2025:  Citizens of EU and EEA member states, Switzerland, and numerous other countries – including Australia, Israel, Japan, Canada, New Zealand and the USA – do not require a visa for stays of up to 90 days. For all other travellers, the following applies: for stays of up to 90 days, a Schengen visa is required. This visa allows you to travel within all Schengen countries – including Austria – without needing to apply for a separate Austrian visa. In other words, once issued, it is valid for all member states.  

 Verify if you require a VISA

During the online registration process, you will have the option to request a Visa Letter of Invitation. You must first register – paying any applicable registration fees – before you can request a letter of invitation. You will receive the letter via email 48-72 hours after you complete and pay for your registration and complete the letter request form. In order to request a Visa Letter of Invitation, you will be required to submit the following information:

• Passport Expiration Date (MM/DD/YYYY)
• Passport Country of Issue
• Name as it Appears on Your Passport

SLAS recommends that all requests be made as early as possible due to the current Visa application processing schedule.

Refund requests due to being denied a visa will be honored per the refund policy and schedule only. Requests received after the deadlines set forth in this policy will be considered within 30 days of the conference conclusion and are not guaranteed.
